Graveyard Keeper 2 Graveyard Quality — How to Increase It Fast

Graveyard Quality — How to Increase It Fast

Quick answer: Quality comes from grave decorations. The body's white skulls cap the score and its red skulls reduce it, so strip Fat and Blood (1 red skull each) before burying. You need 10 total for the "Grave Expectations" quest.

How quality works

  • Each grave scores from its decorations, capped by the body's white skulls and reduced by its red skulls.
  • An open pit or an unfilled grave costs −3 quality each — bury bodies before the next donkey delivery.

Sourcing note: the per-item values below come from the demo build. In the demo a single grave topped out at 3 because stone and marble gravestones did not exist and all corpses arrived at the lowest tier. The retail caps are unconfirmed — the decoration values are the reliable part, and they may now scale higher because better gravestone tiers exist in the full game.

What gives quality (demo-verified values)

ItemQuality
Wooden Cross I+2
Wooden Fence I+1
Exterior Bench I+3 (yard, not per grave)

How to hit 10 fast

Using the demo-verified values above:

  1. 4 good graves (each +2 cross +1 fence = 3, ×4 = 12), or
  2. 3 graves + 1 Exterior Bench I (9 + 3 = 12).

In the retail build you also have stone and marble gravestone tiers the demo lacked, so a single well-decorated grave should score higher than 3 — but without a sourced retail value we are not quoting a new number.

Prepare bodies properly first: remove Fat and Blood from pockets at the autopsy table (1 red skull each), leave Flesh (1 white skull). Pick a pocket before closing the autopsy window — free blue tech point.

Improving a grave later

  • Remove the headstone/marker from the grave first — that exposes the Exhume Body option.
  • Exhuming needs an Exhumation Certificate, bought with coins from Januarius at the pub. Dismantle the fence and sign, then apply the certificate at the cleared grave.
  • Then drop a better corpse into the emptied plot and rebuild the decorations.
